The Mechanical Engineering and the Food Science School is one of the engineering schools of Chengyi University College, Jimei University. Currently, the School has nearly 1,000 students, and five undergraduate majors, namely Mechanical Engineering, Intelligent Manufacturing Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, and Food Science and Engineering (concentration in Food Safety and Inspection). Among them, Mechanical Engineering is one of the key engineering majors of the College and a first-class major construction in Fujian Province. At the same time, it is also the Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Fujian Province, the pilot major of innovation and entrepreneurship education reform in colleges and universities, the construction site of special major of service industry in colleges and universities of Fujian Province, and the pilot construction unit of application-oriented talents cultivation major group.

The School has 24 staff, in which five are doctors, eight are professors and associate professors. It also has the faculty and teaching team of the Marine Equipment and Mechanical Engineering College of Jimei University as a strong back up for teaching and research. Its faculty has borne numerous fruits in research project approval, paper publication, achievement transformation, and teaching innovation etc. Different types of laboratory have been built to meet the needs of cultivating application-oriented talents.

Since its establishment, the Mechanical Engineering and the Food Science School has always adhered to the school running ideology of Chengyi University College, and set the cultivation of application-oriented talents with solid foundation, innovative spirit and strong practical ability as its goal. It has successively established industry-study-research cooperation relationship with more than 30 enterprises, and has long-term stable on campus and off-campus practice bases. In order to improve the comprehensive quality of students and cultivate their practical ability, students are encouraged to participate in various extracurricular science and technology activities and various discipline competitions sponsored by the state, provinces and cities. In the past five years, students have won 31 national awards and 111 provincial awards in various discipline competitions, ranking at the top among all the universities in the province. The students cultivated have good innovative spirit and strong practical ability, and are well accepted by all sectors of the society. The one-time employment rate of graduates maintains above 90%.
