The Information Engineering School has six undergraduate majors, namely Automation, Electronic Information Engineering, Communication Engineering, Network Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, and Data Science and Big Data Technology. Currently the School has a total of 2,681 students.
Making full use of Jimei University’s excellent educational resources — the professional faculty and teaching experiment facilities of Information Engineering College, Computer Engineering College, School of Science, School of Marine Engineering of Jimei University, and strong advantages in terms of campus culture etc. of Chengyi University College, the School effectively guarantees the quality of teaching and education in every major. Meanwhile, making full use of the independent college’s operating mechanism, the School adopts new school-running concepts and management modes, actively carries out school-enterprise cooperation, and strives to create its own education and teaching characteristics.
In accordance with the school-running ideology of Chengyi University College, Jimei University, and the characteristics of Engineering, the Information Engineering School fully excavates and utilizes enterprise resources. First of all, it carries out in-depth university-enterprise cooperation with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Fujian Goktech Technology Co., Ltd., Ruijie Networks Co., Ltd., Zhongrui Network Co., Ltd. and Fuzhou Wangsheng Communication Technologies Co., Ltd. It also actively yet prudently proceeds with the reform of teaching contents and curriculum system, implements new teaching methods and means, and improves the cultivation system of innovation and practice ability.
Secondly, the Information Engineering School puts forward a practical education mode of “experience-planning-training-employment” for the cultivation of application-oriented senior talents, which is complementary to and highly integrated with the teaching system of the College. Presently, it has signed agreements with more than 20 enterprises to build practice and training bases, covering all majors of the School.
In order to improve the practical ability of engineering students, the School endeavors to create conditions for students and actively encourages them to participate in various competitions. Students have successively won awards and improved their results in competitions such as the National College Students’ Smart Car Competition, China Robot Contest, the National Undergraduate Electronic Design Competition, the National College Students’ Mathematical Modeling Competition, the National Network Technology Challenges Competition, the Information Service Innovation Competition across the Taiwan Straits and Fujian Province Computer Software Design Competition, Fujian Province Single-chip Design Competition, American College Students’ Mathematical Modeling Competition, and China Intelligent Manufacturing Challenges Competition.
In the past five years, the Information Engineering School has obtained 38 teaching and scientific research projects at all levels, including 18 national and provincial projects and ten enterprise projects, 11 teaching reform projects at or above the provincial level, one construction of the Computer Science and Technology major as a special major at the provincial level, one construction of electronic information major group at the provincial level, one faculty team of computer application technology at the provincial level, two first prizes for teaching achievement at the provincial level, one Fujian Province Natural Science Award, one second prize in Xiamen City Technology Progress Awards, one Fujian Province Outstanding Young Scientific Research Talent Project, and one Fujian Province Excellent Teachers. The School has published more than 20 papers indexed by SCI and EI and guided students to participate in various discipline competitions, in which they won more than 200 awards, including more than 10 international awards and more than 50 national awards. Over years of professional talent cultivation practice, the School has formed a brand with Chengyi University College engineering characteristics, highlighting the school-running characteristic of serving the economic development of Western Taiwan Straits.
