The Information Engineering School currently has 1,978 full-time students and 126 full-time faculty members, including 10 professors and 22 associate professors. The school offers five majors – Electronic Information Engineering, Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Automation (concentration in electrical automation), and Mathematics and Applied Mathematics.
Electronic Information Engineering Major aims to cultivate engineering professionals with the knowledge of electronic technology and information systems. They will be qualified for research, design, application, and the development of various electronic equipment and information systems. The design of the courses emphasizes the practical application ability. Continuous study of English throughout all years of college is required in order to meet the needs of the internationalization of the industry.
Communication Engineering Major aims to cultivate engineering professionals with a good command of communication technology, communication systems, and communication networks. They will be competent for research, designing, manufacturing, and operation in the field of communications.
Computer Science and Technology Major aims to cultivate professionals with high-level communicative engineering skills; develop their capability in dealing with computer teaching and researching; and apply learned concepts in developing computer applications. The design and contents of the courses closely relate to current development of computer technology and emphasize the practicability of the courses. Taking full advantage of the establishment of the Information Port of Xiamen Special Economic Zone, this major actively strives for cooperative educational programs with other universities both inside China and abroad, as well as large companies.
Automation Major (concentration in electrical automation) aims to cultivate engineering professionals with a good command of control theory, automation detection and emendation, equipment and information processing. They will be qualified for system analysis, design, operation and development for the application control, industrial process control, automation detection and emendation, and information processing.
Mathematics and Applied Mathematics Major aims to develop knowledge and computer skills that will prepare students to become skillful high school or college teachers and researchers with high competence to solve practical mathematical problems.
